Spirit Airlines shuts down after rescue talks collapse

An earlier plan that would have given the U.S. government a de facto ownership of as much as 90% of the airline was met with fierce opposition from Wall Street, Capitol Hill and even members of Trump’s cabinet. Transport Minister Sean Duffy told Reuters the rescue operation amounted to “losing money”.
