People are using Reddit to search

After being plagued by complaints that its search function needed improvement, Reddit has in the past few years invested in its functionality. check it out engine, and even added AI features helping users find what they are looking for. It seems the investment is paying off: The company has seen a 30% jump year-over-year in the number of people using the search engine each week, CEO Steve Huffman said Thursday.

Huffman noted that search has been one of the biggest drivers of usage and retention for the platform.

“In research, we have seen good work. Search DAUs, WAUs, and inquiries are clearly increasing year by year. It is a good driver in terms of storage and DAUs. The research team, honestly, I think it is doing a good job. If you use Reddit Answers, you can see that it is well integrated into the products,” he said at the first meeting of the company’s results.

In early February, the platform began testing product placement through AI solutions in the US.

Huffman said that about 40% of Reddit conversations are commercial, and 84% of consumers feel more confident in their purchasing decisions after researching Reddit.

The social network ended the quarter with more than 493 million weekly unique users (WAUq), up 23% from the same period last year, and nearly 126 million daily active users (DAUq), a 17% change from last year.

Reddit reported a 7% increase in US visitors, reaching 53.5 million DAUqs, and 73.3 million DAUqs worldwide, an increase of 26%. The company said it plans to reach one billion daily users worldwide and 100 million daily users in the US

Apart from the search, the company said its own machine translation servicewhich now supports more than 30 languages, has seen massive growth in the past few quarters.

Reddit reported revenue of $663 million in Q1 2026, beating Wall Street’s expectations of $609.8 million. The company also said it only spent $1 million on capital expenditures in the quarter.
