Patriots players react to Mike Vrabel and Diana Russini drama

Spillane, 30, told reporters on Tuesday, April 28: “Coach coaches the football. He keeps the biggest things, the most important things. I’m just a player and trying to do the best I can.”

Spillane, who is entering his second year in New England, signed with the Tennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent in 2018 when Vrabel was the head coach.

“Obviously, I know you guys want to hear everything that’s going on,” Henry, 31, said Tuesday. “Honestly, I’m focused on what we have going on in this building and with this team right now.”

Henry added, “It was a long season last year and going into the offseason very quickly, we’re in a new building. Every year is a new year. We’re trying to build this team, we’re trying to come together, so I’m just focusing on the guys in the locker room and trying to build it back up from the ground up. We’ve got a long road ahead of us. We’ve got to start somewhere, so we’re starting now.”

Spillane echoed the football-first mentality of the Patriots, who went to Super Bowl X in Vrabel’s first year as coach.

“It’s going to be a whole new team,” Spillane said. “This is an opportunity for us to get together, get to know our teammates, learn from each other and connect with each other, and really grow with our craft. That’s what we’re really focused on.”

Vrabel returned to work on Monday, April 27, after undergoing counseling to continue coping Scandal involving Russini, 43.

Hours before the kissing photo was posted, Vrabel announced plans to briefly leave the team for the NFL draft.

“I made a commitment to my family, this organization and this team that I will do everything in my power to provide them with the best version of myself,” Vrabel said in a statement to ESPN. “To do that, I have committed to seeking counseling starting this weekend. This is something I have considered very carefully and is something I would advise players to do if I were counseling them.”

The statement continued, “I have always wanted to lead by example and I believe this is what I have to do in order to be the best husband, father and coach I can be. This is not an easy thing for me to admit, but I know it will make me a better person. I appreciate the support everyone has given me and promise to be even more determined because of it.”
