Mike announced his plans to participate in the consultation via a statement shared with ESPN Wednesday, April 22nd. “As I said the other day, I pledged to my family, this organization and this team that I will do everything in my power to show them the best version of me. In order to do that, I have committed to seeking counseling starting this weekend,” the statement read. “It’s something I’ve thought about very carefully and if I were advising players that’s what I would advise them to do.”
The letter also reads: “I have always wanted to lead by example and I believe this is what I have to do in order to be the best husband, father and coach I can be. This is not an easy thing for me to admit, but I know it will make me a better person. I appreciate the support everyone has given me and promise to be even stronger because of it.”
