Brand agreed to share a passage he read at a recent British court hearing where he faces charges of rape, sexual assault and indecent assault stemming from allegations made by four different women between 1999 and 2005. (Brand has denied any wrongdoing in the case. He recently megyn kelly show That He ‘slept with a 16-year-old girl when I was 30’ This is legal in the UK as the age of consent is 16. )
Brand claimed to have produced the same Bible he brought to court to read a passage from Isaiah, but he could not find it. Morgan watched in complete silence as Brand searched for about 90 seconds but couldn’t find the verse.
“The verse I was looking at that day was…not this…I couldn’t actually find the verse from that day,” Brand eventually admitted. “But that’s enough. This is from Isaiah chapter 12.”
The video quickly went viral, prompting Brand to try to explain yourself to his fans via X on Sunday, April 26th.
“I’m still looking for that passage that actually comes from my fear…from Piers Morgan. Wait for it…wait for it. Look, it keeps getting flagged,” Brand told his followers. “I kept looking for it. I thought, ‘I should find the really right passage – the exact one I saw while I was sitting in the darkness of the courtroom.”
Then he read a passage from Isaiah 43:18-19 that says, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the things of the past.” Look, I’m doing a new thing! ‘Now it appears; don’t you understand? I make a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. “
Brand asked his followers if they felt that “anything they personally face will be consistent and integrated with the universal.”
“Our whole culture is kind of a wasteland?” he continued. “I mean, the political arena – whether it’s global or domestic, wherever you are, and, you know, globally. Personally… it’s not a great time in the world. It’s like the Roaring ’20s, but again, the Roaring ’20s were between the two world wars.”
Brand added, “Perhaps from a macro perspective or a divine perspective, the world has always been in this tension, and in fact, that’s what the book and Isaiah’s prophecy assumes—that it’s not some local thing.”
