First Wives ClubAdapted from the 1992 novel, it tells the story of three college friends who reunite at the funeral of their fourth friend, who committed suicide after being abandoned by her husband for falling in love with a young woman. All three found themselves sharing the same experience – each had been divorced by her husband, who had gone on to find a younger partner. Instead of continuing to get hurt, they made a pact and began to take revenge. Their plan isn’t just petty revenge, it’s about exposing their ex’s hypocrisy, regaining their self-worth and rediscovering their independence. Along the way, they use clever schemes to undermine their exes socially and financially.
As the plot unfolds, the women realize that revenge is not enough. They turn to empowerment and solidarity, ultimately using their resources to support other women in similar situations. The film blends humor with messages about aging, sexism, friendship and personal reinvention, and ends with a joyous performance of “You Don’t Own Me,” celebrating their renewed confidence.

Diane Keaton Finally got the role of Annie Bette Midler, goldie horn, Stockart Channing, Dan Hedaya, Victor Garber, Stephen Collins, sarah jessica parker, Elizabeth Berkeley and Marcia Gay Harden Rounding out the cast. The film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Musical or Comedy Score.
Field has no regrets about the casting.
“I’m never going to be that good. I mean, that’s definitely true for Keaton, but it’s not true for me,” Field said.
Keaton died of primary bacterial pneumonia on October 11, 2025 at the age of 79.

Kids need to know that — they need to know that sometimes divorce is the best thing, because sometimes when mom and dad feel like they need to stay together for the sake of the kids, that’s bad news.”
