The third episode of the hit Netflix series features a Mijalovic tribute card that reads “In Memory of #6 Niko Mijalovic.” Mijalovic is a college volleyball player Died in 2025 at the age of 15.
Mijalovic attended a private school in Los Angeles and suffered a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) in April 2025. At his memorial service, it was mentioned that the last TV series Mijalovic watched with his family before his death was “Run,” which follows Kate Hudson as Isla, a reformed party girl who gets a chance to prove herself when she takes charge of her family’s professional basketball team.
The student’s sister Mira told the story of Mijalovic’s shocking death.
“There was no warning and as far as we know he is completely healthy,” she wrote on Instagram in April while expressing support for the Huddle For Hearts initiative. “He was always active and played sports throughout his life. His favorite was volleyball, playing on the high school varsity team as a freshman and also competing in club competitions.”
Mira reflects her bond with her brother, adding, “Every stage of my volleyball career, he was there and always had my back.”
She continued, “He has a lot of drive and a lot of big goals as an athlete. He also wants to play Division I volleyball one day, and I always look forward to seeing him achieve that. He’s also always been a very smart and happy person. He always makes people feel comfortable and included. He’s my number one supporter.”
Mira Feeling emotional about weathering Significant personal loss.
“He’s my brother and my best friend,” she concluded. “Losing him was the hardest thing I’ve ever gone through, but what was even harder was that we didn’t know what was wrong. There was no sign that anything like this was going to happen until I got the call one morning saying he didn’t wake up.”
Mijajlovic’s school, Campbell Hall, retired his jersey in tribute, writing via Instagram: “Nico was a true light in our community. Nico joined Campbell Hall in kindergarten and grew into a beloved and thriving member of our varsity men’s volleyball team. In addition to his incredible athleticism, Nico was known for his quiet confidence, kind heart, and deep love for his friends and family. 🕊️💙💛.”
