Rex Scheuermann’s ex-wife doesn’t believe he’s killer
When Ellerup First broke her silence In the three-part documentary, she fiercely defends her husband.
“(I) know what? My husband is home. He’s a family man,” Ellerup told the camera. “They told me he had been soliciting sex from sex workers. What? I wasn’t having sex with my husband? I couldn’t satisfy him?”
She continued, “He came home and ate my dinner. Isn’t that good enough? No. I don’t believe my husband did that.”
Ellerup also dismissed suggestions that there were warning signs. “I didn’t actually notice any unusual behavior. If there was any knowledge that there was anything unusual about that man, I would have walked out of the house,” she said.
At the time, she said she needed to hear the news directly from her husband. “I needed to hear Rex say he killed these girls face to face before I would believe it,” she said. “My husband has never stopped me from doing anything.”

“He looked very nervous. Very, very nervous. I said to him, ‘So, Mr. Hoylman, I know you are confessing these murders to me. Can you tell me how many women you killed?'” she said. “He said eight.”
According to Ellerup, Scheuermann said she was not home at the time of any of the murders and that he killed all but one of his victims at the home.
“He said he never actually intentionally tried to kill the women. He said he just killed them. But he didn’t know how to kill them,” Ellerup said.
However, Winter said that while Scheuermann claimed he had no idea he was going to kill the first victim, he “planned to kill” the others.
After speaking with Scheuermann, Ellerup said she finally believed he was the Gilgo Beach Killer.

Rex Scheuermann’s ex-wife wants to know about his killer side
Ellerup revealed that she has met Scheuermann 12 times since he confessed his love to her.
“I wanted to know another side of Rex. I wanted to know why Rex killed these women,” she said. “What his triggers are. I’m processing the information in a very different way because now I see the evil in him.”
