Bret Taylor’s Sierra buys YC-backed AI Startup Fragment


Sierra, a client launcher founded by Bret Taylorannounced on Thursday that he had found YC-backed French Fragmentwhich enables businesses to integrate AI into operational processes.

This is the third public access to the Sierra. It previously bought Japanese AI solutions company Opera Tech (which it acquired at the end of March) is an AI voice recognition company ((which also announced the acquisition in late March). Fragment co-founders Olivier Moindrot and Guillaume Genthail have joined the Sierra team.

In a blog post, Taylor and his co-founder, Clay Bavor, wrote that Moindrot and Genthail will bring “valuable strengths” to Sierra’s “development operations” in France. Terms of the deal have not been announced. Pitchbook estimates that Fragment has raised about $2 million through its seed round.

Taylor, who is also the chairman of OpenAI, co-founded Sierra with Google alum Bavor after he stepped down as Co-CEO of Salesforce in early 2023. The startup claims Casper, Clear, and Brex as customers, and has raised more than $630 million in funding to datefrom investors including Sequoia and Benchmark, providing a total of 10 billion dollars.
