Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi recounts her children’s heartbreaking reaction to her cervical cancer diagnosis.
“(My kids) kept asking, ‘Are you going to die?'” Polizzi, 38, said during an appearance on Thursday, April 23. good morning america. “I thought, ‘No, I’m not dead, I’m just sick. I need to figure it out, and then Mom will be okay.'”
Polizzi shares children with Lorenzo, 13, Giovanna, 11, and Angelo, 6. and husband Jonny LaVallealso revealed her jersey shore The cast “were freaking out” when she told them she had been diagnosed with stage one cervical cancer.
“I consider them my brothers and sisters,” she continued. “I think we, as actors, always said we would continue filming until we moved into the nursing home.”
Polizzi continued: “Our lives are not over yet… I’m glad (Jersey Shore) happened because I can’t imagine my life being anything else.”
The reality star became famous for jersey shorepremiered in 2009. Recently, Polizzi has used her platform to discuss Her health journey.
“I felt like I needed to share it because no one talks about (cervical cancer),” she continued Thursday. “When I found out, I was scared. I was crying hysterically in the car, like, ‘What am I going to do? I have three kids. I have to do what I want.’ … I was like, thinking about all these things.”
Polizzi acknowledged that she has been “putting off” recommended appointments, adding, “I don’t like it. … I like (have a lot of regrets). Like, ‘Why are you so scared?’ Now we’re not going to put off any appointments anymore.”
While discussing her treatment plan, which included a hysterectomy, Polizzi Admits she’s “scared.”
“I hated (the idea of having a hysterectomy). When he first said we had to do it or it would escalate to stage two — I knew I had had enough of having kids, and just knowing that you can’t, I don’t know, made me feel like I wasn’t a mom,” she explained. “I’m done though.”
Polizzi initially went public with her diagnosis in February. At the time, Polizzi revealed she had undergone a biopsy and urged others to see their doctor annually.
“This is why I’m really telling you guys to get your pap smear. I’m 38 years old. I’ve been battling an abnormal pap smear for about three or four years now,” she said on TikTok. “Look at me now, instead of just putting it off because I didn’t want to go, it hurt and I was scared, no, I just did it, (and) the cancer was there and it was just stage one and it was curable.”
