Alan Osmondson, american idol alum david osmondd, is honoring his late father and reflecting on their shared multiple sclerosis diagnosis.
“Last night, my dad passed away. To be honest…I’m still trying to process it,” David, 46, via Instagram Tuesday, April 21, with multiple photos of him and Ellen, died on Monday, April 2076 years old.
“It’s hard to put into words what a life like his really means. He was more than just my dad. He was a huge example of strength, kindness, how to treat people and how to show up when it matters most,” said David, who participated in Season 8. american idoladded.
Allen was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1987 and lived with the symptoms for nearly four decades. David is one of eight children of the singer and his wife Suzanne Pinegalwas diagnosed with the same disease in 2005.
Donny and Marie Osmond have paid tribute to their brother Alan Osmond after his death aged 76. “This is one of the earliest photos of me and my brother Alan. Even then you can see him with his arm around me and looking at me,” Downey, 68, wrote on Instagram.
“He was a friend of mine and he and I had a lot in common. A love of music, yes, but oddly enough, we even had multiple sclerosis,” David wrote. “We knew each other’s frustrations without even saying a word. Just a long hug and we understood each other in a rare and beautifully unique way. What a gift it was to have a father who led by example and lived through this battle with tenacity and determination to never give up and encouraged me to do the same.”
“He was larger than life in my heart and mind. His creativity, his faith, his ability to lead and inspire. I will miss so much. The conversations, the laughter, those simple moments that felt like nothing at the time but mean everything now,” David continued. “I realized that the greatest gift he gave me was not just what he said or did, but who he was. I feel him in every step I take. It’s something I will carry with me for the rest of my life.”
“My heart is broken but also filled with tremendous gratitude. I am saddened by his tragic death but happy that he is now free,” he concluded. “I love you, Daddy O! Thank you for everything.”
Alan is the eldest member of pop band The Osmonds, which also includes his brother WayneWHO Died in January 2025 At the age of 73, Merrill Lynch72, Jay71, Downey68 and jimmy,63. his sister, Marie Osmondalso known as a singer and actor.

Mary shared her own postal“As his only sister, I know that my relationship with him is different than his relationship with his brother, and I have to say I love that! He was always very protective of me (not sure I liked that), but if I needed him, he was always there!”
