Despite her testimony, Mel expanded in the hospital in the finale. She develops a surprising bond with Santos – viewers even see them singing karaoke in a post-credits scene. It’s unclear where Mel’s personal life is headed, but it doesn’t seem like Mel is going anywhere.

Dr. Trinity Santos
Santos experienced highs and lows in his second season. While Santos’s love life was tumultuous, her friendship with Whittaker remained strong, and she invited Mel to spend time with her. By the end of the season, she’s found her way into the emergency room.
Dr. Dennis Whitaker
Robbie left the keys with Whittaker before going on vacation. Beyond his badge, Whittaker comes off the job in a great spot and will presumably get more and more opportunities to grow.

One questionable scene in the finale is when Whittaker suggests Djawadi consider psychiatry instead of emergency medicine. This could open the door for her to leave the department when it returns for season three.
Dr. Balan Hashmi
Robbie threatened to report Alhashemi after she revealed she had suffered two seizures during her shift, causing him to worry she wouldn’t be able to do her job. It’s unclear whether Hashemi will confess to her crimes and what it will mean for her job.
Dr. Jack Abbott
Where there is a night shift, there is an abbot. He appears multiple times in the finale, trying to support Robbie while also staying overnight in charge of the ER.
