Price hikes threaten Minnesota’s meat sweepstakes

Meat raffles are a tradition in a few areas of the United States, held primarily at neighborhood bars or American Legion or VFW posts in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and New York.

Players enter for a chance to win a package of ground beef, hot dogs, chicken breast or steak. Profits go to charity, but now Minnesota’s Olympics are under pressure due to rising meat prices. This puts pressure on charities that benefit from it.
