Beirut still in shock after deadly Israeli attack, trying to heal

On Wednesday, just hours after Iran announced a ceasefire, Lebanon endured one of its deadliest days in recent history as widespread Israeli airstrikes brought terror and destruction to the country.

According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, the attacks occurred at noon without warning and killed more than 300 people, a third of whom were women, children and the elderly. Some attacks have hit busy, densely populated neighborhoods that had not been targeted before but where people thought they were safe.

Israel said it carried out more than 100 airstrikes in just 10 minutes against targets linked to Iran-backed Hezbollah.

BBC Middle East correspondent Hugo Bachega spoke to residents of Beirut, a city still in shock.
