For the past few years, the North Koreans have I got it away work to hundreds of Western companies pretending to be from somewhere else, using false origins, and sometimes with the help of American agents.
It has been a major problem for years, as North Korea remains highly sanctioned by the US and European governments due to the government’s restricted nuclear weapons program, meaning that companies are not allowed to hire North Koreans.
Over time, someone realized that there might be a way to uncover the possibility of North Korea in the interview process: Ask a liar suspected of insulting the dictator of the country Kim Jong Un, given that insulting him is illegal in the country and could lead to harsh punishments. Although this is a common technique, we rarely see real-world examples in action in real time.
This is what happened in the video, which they entered the virus on X. The video shows a job interview on video, where the recruiter asks the applicant to say “Kim Jong Un is an ugly fat pig.”
The request seems to upset the applicant, who looks uncomfortable, pretends not to understand the question, and then walks out.
It is important to note that this trick does not always work. North Korean disinformation operatives, especially those based in China or Russia, are not monitored as closely as those operating within North Korea’s borders, so these methods are not effective on their own.
