At the news conference, authorities did not identify any of the victims. Multiple points of sale including world wildlife society and world medical centeridentified Gucci Mane as the alleged victim.

Eight of the nine – including rapper Pooh Shiesty (real name) Lantrell Williams Jr.) and Big30 (real name Rodney Wright Jr.) — was arrested Wednesday, April 1, in Dallas, Memphis and Nashville.

US Weekly Representatives for Gucci Mane, Pooh Shiesty and Big30 have been contacted for comment.

“The complaint alleges that on January 10 of this year, three music industry professionals traveled to Dallas for a scheduled business meeting,” LaBelle said in a news release. “Lantrell Williams Jr. allegedly arranged the meeting to discuss the terms of his recording contract with one of the victims. Once the three men entered the studio, Williams Jr. and eight co-conspirators, several of whom were from Memphis, Tennessee, allegedly conducted a coordinated armed takeover.”

Labelle alleges that within hours of leaving the Dallas studio, some of the defendants displayed items on social media that appeared to be jewelry that had been stolen from the victims.

Cellphone records, license plate reader data, rental car records and surveillance video all contributed to the arrest.

“This case should serve as a warning to those who believe that using violence and intimidation to rob others in our communities is a viable way to do business,” LaBelle said at a news conference. “I am here to say that is not the case, and if you choose to do so, we will work with our law enforcement partners here and in the Northern District of Texas to quickly bring you to justice.”

The U.S. Attorney continued, “This case highlights the importance of standing up for victims of crime, no matter who they are or where they are from, and the incredible partnerships we have not only in the Northern District of Texas but across the country.”

The last photo Gucci Mane posted on Instagram before the news broke was a joint social media post with the United Football League’s Birmingham Stallions to promote an upcoming concert.

“We’re turning it up!!” the post said via Instagram March 18th. “Gucci Mane performs halftime show of Birmingham Stallions home opener!”

It’s unclear if any concerts or events will be postponed as a result of the news.
