Gas shortage risk forces India to turn to dirty fuel

India’s environment ministry has told state pollution boards to allow restaurants and hotels to temporarily switch to biomass (wood, dry crops, animal dung), fuel pellets, kerosene and coal for a month, with priority given to cooking gas for households and essential sectors.
