“I’ll be honest. I’m on a procedural show and I wonder what impact that might have? It scares me sometimes because I think we’re highlighting some of the horrors of being human every week,” Peregrine, 43, told Deadline. “What is this? What are we doing this for? What am I dedicating so much of my life to doing this for?”
Peregrine was relieved to see how the show elevated the conversation on screen.

“I think what we’re doing is really important because we emphasize how to move forward. Everyone experiences loss. Everyone goes through emotional depths in life,” she explained. “You have the opportunity to show connection, relationship, intimacy and growth. That’s why I do what I do. Pellegrin hopeful about the plan For the show. “So far. I was like, ‘What are we going to do after this?’ You know, I’ve been playing the same character for eight years and we’re getting so far,” she noted. “What’s the plan? How are we going to go through the next steps and get back on our feet and engage with the world again? We’re not a show where you sit on the couch in your underwear and talk. We have to get back to work.”
She concluded: “So at what point are we addressing the realities of this scene, and we’re doing that in our show in the best way possible, just like we do procedurally. But you know, as much as it scares me, I’m terrified of ending up in that space. I find it really fun to play my character now and find the beats of when I can plug these things in and when they work. It’s just a challenge. It feels like we’re on a new show again, you know what I mean? Maybe that’s a gift.”
