represent Dr. Shahryar TokThe man who performed Rachel’s surgery told US Weekly March 18, “This is an unimaginable tragedy. My heart goes out to Rachel Tussey and her family, and my deepest condolences and prayers go out to her loved ones at this extremely difficult time. My thoughts are with everyone who loved Rachel. I hope the full facts about what happened will come to light in time, bringing clarity and a degree of peace to her family and everyone affected by this heartbreaking loss.”
In a separate statement provided to people On March 12, Dr. Toker added, “To clarify, the surgery was not performed at my private practice, Toker Plastic Surgery, nor do I own or operate a stand-alone outpatient surgical facility where the surgery is performed.”
The surgeon noted that her postoperative recovery appeared to be “as expected.” “Because Rachel was scheduled to stay in the hospital overnight, her postoperative monitoring was overseen by staff contracted by an independent agency rather than by my clinic,” Dr. Toker continued. “Later I learned that her condition had unexpectedly changed and I immediately returned to assist with her care and transfer to Bethesda North Hospital where I was with the family and continued to provide support. I have ceased all surgeries at that surgery center. Out of respect for Rachel and her family, and in consideration of patient privacy laws, I will not comment further.”
