You’ve probably had a moment when you’re with a friend, the conversation is going well, you’re laughing at each other, maybe even saying something surprising. Then someone says: “We should start a podcast.”
Most of the time, that idea disappears as quickly as it came. Not because it’s a bad idea, but because creating a podcast is always painful. Between the graphics, software changes, and promotions, many argue that the barrier to entry is higher than expected.
That is the difference of the new platform, Rebel Audiotrying to close.
Rebel Audio positions itself as an all-in-one podcasting service designed for beginners and early adopters. The idea is simple: instead of looking at multiple tools, subscriptions, and workflows, Podcasters can create their show, record, edit, upload cover art, create transcripts, previews, and publish, all without leaving the platform.
Rebel Audio launched a private beta with a waiting list earlier this month, and recently raised $3.8 million in seed funding, meaning investors see a real opportunity to simplify the podcasting process. The official public release begins on May 30.

The starting time is reasonable. Podcasting is on the rise, the industry is expected to catch up $114.5 billion by 2030. According to Riversidemore than 584 million people listened to podcasts in 2025, and predict that this number will increase to 619 million by 2026.
Competitors like Spotify for Creators (formerly Spotify for Podcasters) have already adopted a similar approach overall, offering tools such as unlimited hosting, podcast video uploads, audience tools, analytics, and monetization through advertising and subscriptions. However, Rebel Audio says that none of the solutions provide the “360-degree” audio quality that its platform requires. Other popular competitors include Riverside, Adobe Audition, and Descript.

Making money is another part of the show. Instead of treating money as an afterthought, Rebel Audio integrates it from the start. Creators can use advertising, brand relationships, ad placement, and audience subscriptions to integrate into the platform.

Unsurprisingly, the Rebel Audio experience is also heavily aided by AI.
The platform includes an AI assistant that helps with everything from generating show names and descriptions to suggesting and creating concept-based artwork. There is also AI-powered typing, interpretation, and translation, as well as text generation for reading.
However, building a podcasting platform around AI can lead to criticism.
The use of AI-generated images and voice production remains a hot topic in the creative industry. Concerns about education, originality, and ownership persist, and some manufacturers remain wary of tools that disrupt those processes. Platforms like Spotify and Deezer have already had to deal with issues related to low-quality, crowd-sourced AI, sometimes referred to as “AI slop.”
Rebel Audio told TechCrunch that it has implemented measures to help combat this. Word creation is input and requires users to confirm that they have the right to use the given word, and the platform includes safeguards that prevent deep learning. Similarly, the company says that its AI-generated cover tools are designed with control systems to prevent inappropriate or inappropriate images, especially anything that may violate the guidelines of the distribution platform.
Rebel Audio was developed in partnership with AI consulting firm Lattice Partners.

Behind the scenes, the company’s leadership brings information to the company. Founder Jared Gutstadt also launched the production company Audio Up in 2020. Rebel Audio plans to transfer Audio Up’s catalog to the platform, including shows featuring big names like Machine Gun Kelly, Anthony Anderson, Dennis Quaid, Jason Alexander, and Luke Wilson.
The executive team includes veterans from companies like MGM and DreamWorks, and even Mark Burnett joined as a consultant. Burnett is the creator behind the shows “Survivor,” “The Voice,” and “Shark Tank.”
Price-wise, the platform is divided into levels, starting with the basic plan ($ 15 / month) that offers production with the help of AI, hosting and distribution to all major platforms, the Plus plan ($ 35 / month), which includes video hosting, and voice output to read ads, expanding to the full Pro package ($ 70 / month) that includes installation, translation, translation for the audience.
