Meta says it is considering layoffs that will affect 20% of the company

Meta is considering a major layoff that will affect 20% or more of the company’s workforce, according to Reuters.

This could help Facebook’s parent company to break even spending heavily on AI infrastructurealso Acquisition and employment of AI. Meta employed about 79,000 people as of Dec. 31, according to the most recent data.

“This is a hypothetical case of speculative methods,” a Meta spokesperson said in a statement.

The report comes as many tech companies – recently Block – has announced job cuts that he says are essential as AI takes over more jobs. But some experts, and even administrators like OpenAI’s Sam AltmanHe says that most of these wounds are “AI shower,” where the governors use AI as a cover for other thingssuch as overworking during an epidemic.

The last time Meta announced the removal of this scale was in November 2022, when it said they cut 11,000 jobsfollowed by another 10,000 in March 2023.
