Jana Kramer This is an open book about her divorce from her ex-husband Mike Caussin — but she wouldn’t share anything publicly without his approval.
“Even when I was writing about my ex in my book, I was like, ‘Hey, I’m obviously writing stories, and here are some stories. Do you want to see them?'” Kramer, 42, recalled on the Friday, March 13, episode.complain” podcast.
Cramer said she gave Cousin, 39, a reminder about what she planned to include in her 2023 book, Next Chapter: Making peace with painful memories, finding hope around me, making space for good things—coping with heartbreak and loss with wisdom.
“I think if you’re going to talk about someone, it’s respectful to engage with them,” Kramer explained.

She told him, “There are things I’m not talking about to protect you, mainly the kids. Because if I put something out there, he’s going to fight (for it).”
Kramer told her audience, “I think I have a good taste for these stories,” and Caussin agreed.
“He said, ‘I believe what you’re saying is your version of these stories, and you’re not going to add anything to it that I wish you wouldn’t add to it,'” she shared.
If the situation were reversed, Kramer admits, “I would read every page.”
When asked if she would “change” any part of the story if Cousin had gone against it, Kramer admits She would only write “snippets” from the book because it was her “truth.”
Kramer noted that when it comes to her breakup with Cousin, her book and what she discusses on the podcast focus solely on their past together, not What this retired NFL player is doing now.

“He wanted to hurt me, that’s exactly what the news reports said,” she wrote. “Over the past few weeks, I have taken a big step away from him and toward a new future, but hearing these words confirmed that little voice in my head that had been telling me that everything he did and said in our marriage was because he didn’t love me.”
