Apple is to fall Its price in the App Store in China to 25% from 30% following negotiations with the Chinese regulator, the company said on Thursday. A new 25% duty will be applied to apps paid for by in-app purchases, while a lower fee of 12% (down from 15%) will be charged for renewing in-app purchases after their first year.
The changes will take effect on March 15, 2026, and do not require manufacturers to agree to new terms, Apple said.
The decision to change commissions without a long, public battle shows how important China is to Apple’s market, and how Apple sees the value of the App Store business. The company in its first quarter reported that iPhone sales are growing in China, and revenue has increased by 16% per yearhelps to provide a record-breaking session.
In comparison and the EUwhere Apple and the authorities have been going it just fluctuates on the change of the Commission for yearsApple appears to have lowered its prices in China without pushback. Meanwhile, in the US, Apple won a lawsuit against Fortnite developer Epic Games, as a judge ruled against the iPhone maker. he was not the sole ruleralthough the developers gained the right to send users to other shopping channels (at least for now). As a result, Apple has kept the same prices in the US, although it has programs that offer discount prices for different parties, such as small businesses.
Changes in China are written in the new version of Apple Developer Program License Agreement.
“We are committed to a fair and transparent environment for all app developers, and to always offer competitive App Store prices to developers distributing apps in China that are no higher than prices in other markets,” the company said in its announcement.
