A Florida mother has learned her fate after she allegedly let her boyfriend beat her 5-year-old son, injuring him 46 times.

The investigation into the case began in May 2023, when Schaefer claimed she saw her boyfriend, Sean Stonewas caught on home surveillance video abusing the child when she was not home.
In the video, Stone allegedly punched and kicked the boy and hit him with a mop after he wet his bed.
The state attorney’s office said medical professionals examined the boy and documented 46 apparent injuries after the attack, including a skull fracture.

Additionally, the video shows the boy being left alone at home for several hours with his hands tied behind his back. Investigators also said the children were sometimes locked in dog crates and deprived of food on separate occasions as punishment.

Chitwood added that he felt “this was too good an ending for Shaffer and Stone to rot in a prison cell,” saying they “stole those kids’ futures.”
The Sheriff’s Office said a 9-year-old child was also abused and forced to drink boiling water, sprayed with boiling water and beaten with other household objects, WKMG reported. Meanwhile, authorities said a 7-year-old child who was critically ill was living in the house but was not receiving proper care.
“A mother’s sacred duty is to love and protect her children, not to viciously beat, torture and belittle them,” state attorney RJ Larizza the 7th Circuit said in a news release. “It is a harsh reality that some mothers commit disgraceful acts of violence and cruelty to their children.”
The case against Stone remains pending, the State Attorney’s Office said. It was unclear whether he had entered a plea or retained legal representation.
