Simpson described Hadid, 30, whom he dated from 2013 to 2015, as his “first love,” while also revealing that Jenner, 28, was his first girlfriend.

“I think I asked her for her number there. We exchanged numbers and started talking. Being young at the time… I took her to the movies and stuff,” he said.
“We dated for about a year, and I think it was through these unique circumstances that we bonded,” he said, noting that Jenner also was in the spotlight when she was younger on “E!” reality show Keeping up with the Kardashians. “It’s nice to connect with people that age in that world.”
After splitting from Jenner, Simpson proposed to Hadid and promised to star in a music video – although he admitted that no video was actually in the works.
“She had just done her first billboard for Guess,” he said, adding that he was about 16 and she was 18.
Simpson said he saw Hadid at the mall and a mutual friend later gave him the supermodel’s phone number.
“It sounds stupid, but I called her,” he explained. “I said, ‘Hey, I’m Cody, I’m a musician. I’m making this music video… I’m calling to see if you want to be a part of it.’ There was no music video. There were no plans to make a video. The video was all shot.”
“I’m pretty sure the whole concept I was selling her didn’t exist,” he continued. “She said, ‘Yeah, okay, sure,’ and I think that broke the ice. I started texting her and I was like, ‘I don’t think this video is going to come out again, but do you want to go out and get something to eat?'”
This is how the couple’s romance begins. “She was my first love, man,” Simpson recalled. “Absolutely. We were together on and off for about two years. We started hanging out, and a few weeks later, she and I were on tour together.”

Simpson said he and Hadid “were supposed to be together, learning things from each other that are obviously necessary at that age.”
Years later, Simpson formed a relationship with Cyrus, 33, when he was about 22. He said they first met when he was 18 and bonded over their “teenage pop star rebellion”, but it wasn’t until four years later that they reconnected – after Cyrus split from then-husband Liam Hemsworth — and become an object. “Again, it was one of those things where we were very destined to be together,” Simpson said. “We are both sober and in a very different place than we were when we were friends. We are exploring exactly what we just went through. I will always be grateful for that.”
