Chicago Fire’s Cruz to be affected by near-death experience

WARNING: The following spoilers follow from Season 14, Episode 13 of the Chicago Fire/One Chicago crossover.

They found the entire plane, including the pilot, dead of unknown causes. The severity of the deaths – many were foaming at the mouth – had everyone on edge.

“In 20 years in this business, I’ve never seen anything like this,” Cruz said as he stepped off the plane.

The murder weapon, later identified as toxins smuggled into the city by a drug trafficker, accidentally exploded while the delivery vehicle was on the plane, killing everyone. (One passenger did survive but later died in hospital.)

Without knowing the location of another patch of toxin, an attacker who blames first responders for a fire that occurred 25 years ago breaks into the morgue and retrieves the deadly toxin, leaving everyone’s lives hanging in the balance, including Cap and Cruz.

Luckily for fans, both Cruz and Cap survived the incident. their police counterparts After knocking out the bad guys, he plans to release more toxins at the Firefighters Memorial to commemorate the greatest casualty.

Paramedic Leila Novak (Jocelyn Hughton) also survived being sprayed with blood while treating the sole plane survivor. The woman later died after Nowak helped deliver the baby in the back of the ambulance.

Sadly, Massey and Holt did not survive and died in hospital before an antidote could be found to relieve their symptoms.
