Law enforcement officials in the US and Europe have seized databases from LeakBase, which prosecutors say is “one of the world’s largest cybercriminal forums” for sharing stolen passwords and hacking tools.
US and European police seized the site earlier this week, and said its database contained more than 142,000 members and more than 215,000 messages sent between members.
LeakBase has been active since 2021, officials said, and contained a large database of encrypted data, including hundreds of millions of account records, credit card numbers, and bank account and transportation information.
This is the latest takedown targeting websites that sell fake identities, which are increasingly used to hack people’s accounts and steal data and cryptocurrency.
Europol he said in his voice that around 100 enforcement actions were taken worldwide, including measures taken against the top 37 users of the forum. Earlier on Wednesday, the FBI reassigned the sites that monitored the site to nameservers operated by the agency, shutting down the site.
Leakbase show now notice of capture, stating that site content, private messages, and IP address records are stored. According to Historyinterviewed by Brett Leatherman of the FBI, the investigation resulted in the arrest of more than 13 people, the search and questioning of 33 suspects, and the seizure of an entire warehouse.
