“(The Nation) is a character in itself. It’s messy, it’s funny, it’s sexy, it’s weird. But you also have these mysterious crime cases that evolve,” Ortiz teases. “They twist and spin. You don’t know how things are going to unfold, so it’s very unpredictable. And then you get to see these characters have unconventional relationships. They’re human beings. I think people end up being really entertained.”

Meanwhile, Rankin told us It was “fun” to find a place in North Carolina that could double as Florida, adding, “I think they blend well.” The actor also noted that his character perfectly “embodies the state” on the show.

“He’s from Florida, he’s got legs, and I always tell people, he’s a guy who knows a guy, and another guy knows a guy — and he’s a guy that somebody knows, too,” he quipped. “So he’s keeping his eye on the ground, and he owns the bar. He knows what’s going on in town.”
