The film is a road trip comedy about a widowed pear salesman who embarks on an adventure to scatter his wife’s ashes. “Ernie & Emma” premiered last month in Medford, Oregon, where the project is filmed. The film is expected to be released more widely in the fall.

Campbell also said Monday that he needed to “cancel” upcoming games so he could focus on treatment.

“I’m very sorry about this,” he continued, expressing his disappointment. “Therapeutic needs and professional obligations do not always go hand in hand.”

The actor explained that he wasn’t sharing his diagnosis to “gain sympathy,” but to be someone who shared the truth before “false information” leaked.

“Don’t be scared, I’m a tough old son of a bitch and I have a lot of support so I hope to stick around for a while. As always, you guys are the biggest fans in the world and I hope to see you soon!” he concluded.

Fans responded to Campbell’s message sending well wishes to the actor.

“We all love you, Bruce. Get well soon. We know you will. ❤️,” one user wrote on Twitter, while another responded, “Take it easy, Bruce. We’ll see you when you’re feeling better.”
