A lot of what’s going on in the outside world, we’re not showing it in a Mad Max -type of situation. We’re showing the human dynamics that are created in that rigor. Because everyone is in their own little bubble. They may not have all the resources that the bunker has.”
He continued: “Everyone is coming up with their own bubble and figuring out how to make it. So I think it’s really fun to compare and contrast. If you don’t bring that up in the first episode, it’s not going to work.”

“The most exciting thing about heaven is that it starts in the outside world,” she told us September 2025. “The first three episodes are about discovering a whole new world and a whole new cast of characters,” shares Nicholson, 54, who plays Sinatra. “It’s very exciting where they find themselves.”
Nicholson Excited to expand fictional world. “It’s great to have some new blood with (Shailene and Thomas),” she added. “The greatest lengths (we had to go through to keep the twist secret) were happening when we were actually talking to people about it. When we were on set, everyone knew what was going on, so we didn’t have to be so secretive.”
She concluded: “But the key now is how do you grab people’s attention and reassure them that this is different, without giving away any details? But we’re really excited for people to come on board with us.”
