Since Yellowstone premiered in 2018, the Dutton family’s story had enough potential to inspire six spinoffs (and counting) to join Paramount Network’s slate, but delays have come with it. Amid delays and changes, some yellowstone park Fans are still waiting for the previously teased 6666 spinoff – which was originally slated to follow Jimmy Hurdstrom (Jefferson White) while working at Four Six Ranch in Texas. Marshals and Dutton Ranch make more progress as Sheridan, 55, also focuses on non-yellowstone park projects, including Landman.

Sheridan told Deadline in January 2022: “Because Paramount trusted me and gave me 10 to 14 days to shoot the TV episodes, we could treat it like a movie and it would look like a movie. We could spend time rehearsing and lighting and building these sets. If I called them and said, ‘I need two helicopters a day,’ they would be like, ‘Okay.'”

He added: “At the end of the day, going to some place that most people have never been, where you open up a new world, and all these places or characters in the story, to me, that’s fascinating.”

In October 2025, it was reported that Sheridan’s programming will proceed He’s been through more changes since he landed a film and TV deal with NBCUniversal. Sheridan’s five-year film, television and streaming pact with Paramount will begin on January 1, 2029, after her television deal with Paramount officially ends. The agreement will last until 2028.

Paramount will retain the rights to Yellowstone and other franchises Sheridan created under his agreement with the company, so he’s expected to create brand new IP for NBCUniversal. Sheridan’s move follows Paramount’s recent merger with Skydance. The change led to the exit of Paramount Worldwide co-CEO Chris McCarthy, who worked closely with Sheridan.

sheridan I publicly stated that I didn’t want it before. In 2023, he told The Hollywood Reporter , “I spent the first 37 years of my life in compromise. When I retired from acting, I decided to tell my story my own way, period. If you don’t want me to tell it, fine. Give them back to me and I’ll find a storyteller — or I won’t, and then I’ll read them in some goddamn dinner theater. But I won’t compromise. There’s no compromise.”

However, before Sheridan makes the move, Paramount will launch a spinoff focused on Beth and Rip. A premiere date has yet to be announced, but it appears to be gearing up for a 2026 release, with Reilly, 48, and Hauser, 50, set to reprise their roles. Ed Harris and Annette Bening will also work with Natalie Alyn Lind, Mark Menchaca, Juan Pablo Raba and JR Villarreal.
