The United States and Israel launched attacks across Iran on Saturday, and U.S. President Donald Trump later said Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had died.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Khamenei’s residence in Tehran had been destroyed in a “powerful surprise attack.”
Iranian state media later confirmed Khamenei’s death.
Iran responded to the U.S.-Israeli attacks by firing missiles and drones at Israel and four Gulf Arab states that host U.S. military bases: Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
