Spain declassifies 1981 coup attempt files

On February 23, 1981, as the new government was being sworn in, a group of military officers led by Tejero burst into the main chamber of the National Assembly, brandishing guns and threatening politicians. Their goal is to restore authoritarianism six years after the death of the country’s dictator Francisco Franco.
