A 2-year-old girl kidnapped by a woman from an Arizona home was rescued at a gas station and reunited with her parents nearly two days later, according to police.
Marina Noriega A 23-year-old California woman described as a “recent acquaintance” of the toddler’s family was suspected of kidnapping the girl on Friday, Feb. 20, and was arrested at a Phoenix-area gas station, Avondale Police Department officials said. Noriega was charged with one felony count of interfering with supervision, police said.

Kehlani was last seen at her Avondale home on a February night and is believed to be with Noriega when she disappeared, according to the Amber Alert.
According to court documents seen by KTAR News, Kehlani’s parents told investigators that Noriega was “a random female who was brought to the residence by family members to help because she was transient and Need a place to stay“.
The probable cause statement for Noriega’s arrest said that on the morning of Saturday, February 21, Keilani’s parents told police that a woman who lived with them and their daughter were missing from their home, KTAR News reported.

In the latest news released that day, police said that after multiple reports, on February 21, Noriega and Kelani were spotted on surveillance video at a local business in Maricopa.
Police said they were found at a QuikTrip gas station in Phoenix on Sunday morning, KPNX reported.
According to the Avondale Police Department, employees of a moving company saw Noriega and Kelani at a gas station and called Phoenix police.
There, police said, “they recovered Keilani” and arrested Marina “without incident.”
In a statement shared by QuikTrip and provided to usAisha Jefferson, the company’s corporate communications manager, said a QuikTrip Protective Services employee, known as QuikTrip Guardian, also called law enforcement when she saw “two customers connected to active AMBER Alerts.”
“Law enforcement arrived quickly, protected the children and took (the suspect) into custody,” Jefferson said. “We thank the Guardian for their care and quick thinking and the Phoenix Police Department for their quick response and professionalism.”
Kehlani was found healthy and did not appear to be injured during her abduction, according to police.
In an interview with police after her arrest, Noriega said she “made a mistake,” according to court records reviewed by KPNX.
“Marina denied having any plans for the child after taking her and denied intending to sell or harm the child,” a court filing said, the station reported.
Noriega also said she and Keilani had been “sleeping on the streets” in Maricopa, according to court reports obtained by the station.
