looking for Molly Miller and Colt Haynes Two people disappeared 13 years ago after a car accident in Oklahoma.
Authorities announced on Friday, February 22, that they had discovered two bodies, possibly those of Miller, who was 17 when she disappeared, and Haynes, who was 21 when she was last seen, during an extensive two-day, multi-agency search operation in Love County.
Miller and Haynes were last seen together in the summer of 2013. The two were involved in a wild police chase on July 8 in a 2012 Honda Accord. The car ended up crashing deep into the woods. driver– James “Conn” Nipp ——Flee the scene.
Miller and Haynes stayed behind the wrecked car and called 911 and friends for help until their cellphones eventually died.
The Chickasaw Light Horse Police Department and the Bureau of Indian Affairs Missing and Murdered Unit organized the search on Tuesday, February 17. The remains were recovered on Wednesday, February 18.
Miller is a Chickasaw citizen, according to police.
Both sets of remains were collected for forensic examination and identification by the FBI Evidence Response Team and the Oklahoma Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. At present, the police have not confirmed the identity of the body.
The remains were allegedly found about a mile north of the crashed car in which Molly and Colt were riding.
Police discovered the body in an area that had not been previously investigated. Authorities subsequently learned information about the possible location of the wrecked car and worked with the landowner to coordinate further searches.
The chase began in 2013 when police tried to stop Nipp’s speeding car in Wilson.
Police chased the car into Love County but briefly lost sight of it. Police caught up with Nip, and one officer even struck the vehicle with his patrol unit. Eventually, Nip made one final attempt to evade police but eventually lost control of the car, sending it flying off the road into the deep woods near Oswalt.
Nip was convicted of initiating a car chase. In 2014, a judge sentenced him to 10 years in prison for felony endangerment by eluding and attempting to elude police. Nip served about four years in prison before being released in March 2018.
It’s unclear whether Nip will face any additional criminal charges if the bodies are identified as those of Molly and Colt.
Medical examiners are currently working to identify the remains and the cause and manner of death.
The family has been contacted about the discovery and police will continue to receive updates on the investigation as they learn more.
The investigation continues and police are seeking additional leads and reviewing evidence.
