Moore spent three years with the Arizona Cardinals as a second-round pick in the 2021 draft.
He joined the Atlanta Falcons in 2024, but a knee injury caused him to miss the entire season before joining the Vikings in 2025.
“Although Lawndale has only been with the Vikings for a short time, he is someone we know well and care about deeply,” Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell said.
“He was a humble, soft-spoken, respectful young man who was proud of his Indiana roots.
“We are all heartbroken that he will not be able to continue to fulfill his NFL dream and that we will not have the opportunity to see him flourish.”
The NFL said it was “deeply saddened” by Moore’s “tragic passing.”
After making his NFL debut in 2021, Moore caught 135 passes for 1,201 yards with the Cardinals in three seasons in Arizona.
“We are shocked and heartbroken by today’s news,” the Cardinals said in a statement.
“Our condolences and deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, teammates and everyone who loved him and had the privilege of knowing such a special man.”
Former Cardinals teammate JJ Watt said: “Can’t even begin to understand or process this. There was just no way. It was so quick. So special. So much more to give. RIP Rodale.”
The NFL Players Association, a union dedicated to player welfare, said: “In times like this, we are reminded of how much our players carry with them on and off the field.
“To our members: Please know that support is always within reach. Check in on your teammates and prioritize your mental health.”
