Toy 5 story looks at scary AI toys: ‘I’m always listening’


When the first Toy Story movie came out in 1995, Google didn’t exist and Apple was on the verge of collapse. No one could have predicted that thirty years later, Pixar would still be making Toy Story movies, and no one would have known that the latest installment in the franchise would pit Buzz Lightyear and bald Woody against an evil AI tablet called Lilypad.

But of course, Play Story 5 pitting classic toys like Mrs. Potato Head, Rex, and Slinky Dog against the evil threat of art.

The trailer shows Bonnie, a girl who takes Andy’s toys when she goes to college Play Story 2she is playing outside with her toys when a surprise package containing a Lilypad tablet arrives. He is obsessed with the tablet, never looking at the screen again after his parents tell him that screen time is over.

The Play Story 5 The trailer makes Lilypad – or, Lily – a badass. When Jessie confronts the tablet about Bonnie’s life, Lily seems unresponsive, so the girl wants the tablet to listen to her.

“I always listen,” Lily says nervously, repeating Jessie’s words of love on the computer… then translating them into Spanish.

“Tech has taken over our house,” Jessie told Woody. “I’m going to lose Bonnie to this device.”

Woody replies, “Toys are toys, but technology is for everything.”

He could Play Story 5 tug at the heartstrings of young children and make them think twice about the consequences of too much screen time? That might be a stretch. But maybe it gives them something to look at that isn’t just like Cocomelon.
