The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office in Georgia confirmed in a statement on Wednesday, February 18 News4JAX The musician was pronounced dead earlier that morning.
The medical examiner told the media that the cause of death has not been announced but is currently under investigation. .
Great Day Records CEO Caroline “Baroline” Diaz, who worked with Lil Poppa during the early stages of his career, paid tribute to the late rapper on social media on Wednesday.
“My brother is gone,” Diaz wrote byX Wednesday. “Dad, I love you so much. I’m so sad. I was one of the first artists on Interscope. A&R’d 4 of his projects. I’m so sad right now.”
Several of Lil Poppa’s fans also reacted to the news, with one writing: “Poppa told me this isn’t true.” Another replied: “You can’t just leave me like this, no way.”

Lil Poppa is best known for his songs “Love & War,” “Mind Over Matter,” and “HAPPY TEARS.” The musician started rapping at age 7 in his hometown of Jacksonville, Florida. In 2018, he wrote the song “Purple Heart,” inspired by his real-life experience of surviving a drive-by shooting. The song eventually became a hit. Earlier this month, Lil Poppa released his new single “Out Of Town Bae.” He dropped the official music video on Friday, February 13th.

Lil Poppa has been touring for the past year and is planning a birthday bash concert in New Orleans next month.
