A retired FBI agent is uncovering an alleged ransom note demanding Bitcoin and the search continues Savannah Guthrie‘s mother, Nancy Guthrie.

Curtis explained that he believed the FBI “didn’t take this seriously” because the person contacted TMZ rather than contacting the FBI directly.
Update February 12 at 2:30 PM ET: TMZ reports that a second email has been received claiming to have information on who took Nancy Guthrie. The outlet reported that just after 8 a.m. Pacific time on Thursday, February 12, the mysterious person sent a message claiming “I’m not being taken seriously.” TMZ did not disclose (…)
“I think there’s a parallel to the real perpetrators and the real events surrounding it, this crime that happened here, right?” he said. “I didn’t put a lot of value in it.”
The 84-year-old was reported missing by his family calling 911 on February 1. The last time I saw her was on January 31, her daughter was Anne Guthrie. (Nancy shares daughters Anne and Savannah and son Cameron Guthrie and husband Charles Guthriedied of a heart attack at the age of 49. )
During the search, it was revealed that a note allegedly demanded payment for information on the person who may be responsible for Nancy’s abduction. TMZ revealed on Wednesday, February 11, that they allegedly received a note from a non-potential suspect around 5 a.m. PT. The sender claimed they tried to contact the Guthrie siblings but were unsuccessful.
“If they want the names of the individuals involved, then I would like to deposit 1 Bitcoin into the following wallet. Time is more important than relevance,” the purported message reads.
According to multiple media reports, activity was found on a Bitcoin account mentioned in the ransom note, which is allegedly related to the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie. TMZ and KGUN 9, a local news outlet in Tucson, Arizona, reported on Tuesday, February 10, that they noticed activity in the account after Nancy received the ransom after she disappeared on February 1. The outlet sent the note to the FBI. TMZ reports that the Bitcoin address used for payment included in the new messages is different from the addresses sent in other alleged ransom letters the local news station has received.
A day later, TMZ reported that they had received a second email claiming to have information about Nancy’s disappearance. In the note, dated Thursday just after 8 a.m. PT, the person allegedly wrote: “I’m not being taken seriously.”
TMZ described the email as “ominous,” with the sender claiming Bitcoin was necessary to avoid being “convicted” like the recently detained Carlos Palazzolos. (Later released by police Denies his involvement Nancy is missing. )
