Dax Shepard feels ‘peaceful’ after nearly dying in near-fatal car crash

Dax Shepard I am looking back on a time when I almost escaped death.

“I don’t know what the definition is, but I had this moment, one of the most unique feelings I’ve ever experienced in my life, where I was like, ‘Oh, I’m going to die,'” Shepard, 51, told guests. Kaley Cuoco On his show on Monday, February 9 “Armchair Expert” podcast.

Shepard created the horrifying scene, explaining that he was lying in the back seat of a Ford Probe driven by his friend.

“We were coming back to Detroit from Toledo,” he recalled. “It was, like, late at night and I had to work early in the morning, so I said, ‘Hey, I’m going to sleep in the back. Are you okay with driving?’ “Yeah, I’m fine. “

pasture The actor continued, “He had the cruise control on 85 degrees, and I was, like, in the back, and I was listening, and the road was really rhythmic. And at that moment, I was like, ‘Oh, this rhythm is good. I’m going to fall asleep,’ and then I heard gravel hitting the side of the car, and I immediately looked up and he was completely slumped to the ground, and we were off the road, we were going to 85 degrees, and the car started going sideways.”

Sheppard explained that because of the pine trees on Michigan’s interstates, he was sure the vehicle would hit the tree.

“I started to grab the wheel, and for a moment I just knew it was too far, like we were completely off course,” he shared. “I laid down and we launched in the air and started rolling down the highway.”

As horrific as the experience was, Shepard said there was a moment when he felt at peace with the fact that he might die.

“I was like, ‘We’re going to hit a tree and that’s it,’ and I definitely had this moment of, ‘Wow, I’m going to die right now,’ and that feeling was shockingly comforting, and I remember coming out of utter terror and going, ‘S*** the car’s out of control. Oh my god, we’re going to roll. F***, we’re rolling. Okay, we’re going to roll into a tree. I’m going to die, like all the calculations, and then I’m like, (sigh), but I became really calm.”

Sheppard continued, “Whatever they gave you, DMT or some other weird chemical, I guess, it did start to release, and I felt a weird complete peace with it. And then we just rolled about 10 times and ended up upside down. We didn’t hit a tree. The car was completely overturned. We rolled the windows out, a whole nine yards.” (According to the Alcohol and Drug Foundation, DMT is a strong psychedelic drug that affects all senses, altering a person’s thoughts, sense of time, and mood.)

After giving a harrowing description of the accident, Sheppard assured the audience that the driver of the vehicle was “fine.” Cuoco, 40, told Sheppard story is “scary” and “very funny.”

“A lot of the stories I heard, people had a sense of peace, even when bad things happened,” big bang theory said the actress.

Sheppard went on to say that about three days after the accident, he felt “really weird” and questioned, “Am I dead? I know I’m dead.” For him, these thoughts were “the weirdest part of the whole thing.”

When asked if the accident happened a long time ago, Sheppard revealed that it happened when he was in Grade 12.

“This may shock you, but I’ve never been able to sleep in a car since, so I can never let someone else take turns driving. There’s no way I’m going to sleep with someone else in the car,” Sheppard concluded, to which Cuoco responded, “That makes sense. It’s severe PTSD.”
