“This is what exercise looks like when you peel the polish off. It’s uncomfortable…it’s painful,” he continued. “Risk instead of safety. Vaughn knows she might not win. She knows it might hurt. She understands the risk. She accepts it because not getting down that mountain means giving in to the things that keep you from getting out of bed in the morning.”
Walker ended the post by writing: “I hope her body recovers quickly and she knows she will always be the winner 🏆.”

She “underwent orthopedic surgery to stabilize the fracture in her left leg” and is “receiving care from a multidisciplinary team,” according to a statement released by Carfuncello Hospital on Sunday.
The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team said Vonn is “in stable condition and is being well cared for by a team of U.S. and Italian doctors.”
“She’s going to be fine, but it’s going to be a process,” said Anouk PattyU.S. Ski and Snowboard Sports Director. “This sport is brutal and people need to remember that when they see these athletes jumping off the mountain, it’s very, very fast.”
Vaughan’s sister, Karin Kidlow, tell nbc The crash was “the last thing we wanted to see.”
“It happens very quickly, and when something like this happens you immediately hope she’s okay,” Kildow said. “All of her surgeons, physical therapy staff and doctors are here, so I’m sure they’ll give us a report and we’ll meet with her at the hospital where she is.”
As expected, Vonn’s name was left off Team USA’s roster for the inaugural women’s team all-around competition at the 2026 Winter Olympics, which will take place on Tuesday, February 10.

She added, “I’m going to stand on the starting gate tomorrow knowing that I’m strong. Knowing that I believe in myself. Knowing that my age, no ACL, and titanium knees are the odds against me, but I still believe. Usually, when the odds are against me the most, I bring out the best in me.”
