A South Carolina teen is accused of fatally shooting his girlfriend during an argument while her 3-year-old child was calling his mother by her name as she sat on a nearby couch.
Jervion Nealke Rice He was arrested and charged with one count of murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, according to online records reviewed US Weekly.

According to reports, deputies with the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene after receiving reports of an accidental shooting at a residence on Creek Road in Inman Farms, South Carolina, around 9 p.m. loud. Rice’s mother was reportedly the one who reported the shooting to 911 world spa association.
When police arrived at the address, first responders found Logan on the front porch with an apparent gunshot wound to her torso. She was taken to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center for treatment and pronounced dead shortly before midnight.
During his first interview with investigators, Rice told officers that a gun he was handling accidentally went off, striking Logan.
However, physical evidence later obtained by the Sheriff’s Office contradicted Rice’s assertion that the gun detonated accidentally. Rice was arrested around 1 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, after deputies learned he and Logan were in a relationship and were fighting when she was shot.
Rice appeared in court on February 4 and was told he could face up to life in prison without the possibility of parole if convicted of Logan’s murder. Meanwhile, his second charge carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison if convicted.
He was also told he would be held without bail until the trial provides more details about the circumstances of the alleged murder.
“The victim is 21-year-old Skyy Logan,” Asst. Anthony Liebert he told the judge in court, according to video obtained by WSPA. “After the shooting, her 3-year-old little boy was sitting on the couch calling his mother’s name. He didn’t know it yet, but he would never see her again. She was shot once in the neck and chest area.”
Leibert then suggested the crime was caught on video. “In the video, blood explodes from her body before she falls to the ground and dies,” he said.
The judge agreed Rice should not be released on bail. Rice will remain in custody as a result of this decision. He is expected to appear in court on April 16.
It’s unclear whether Rice has retained legal representation or entered a plea.
