Scientists discovered a rare ghost jellyfish while exploring the deep sea off Argentina.
Stygiomedusa gigantea (commonly known as the giant phantom jellyfish) was photographed 250 meters below the surface of the South Atlantic Ocean.
Scientists at the Schmidt Ocean Institute documented the creature, which can measure up to 1m (3.3 feet) in diameter and have arms up to 10m (33 feet) long.
Their four arms look like long pink ribbons, but are not stinging tentacles. Instead, jellyfish use them to catch fish and plankton prey, according to the institute.
The team also discovered 28 potentially new species, including corals, sea urchins and sea anemones.
