“I think it probably stems from late puberty as a teenager and feeling like you don’t look good, or you’re too short, or you’re not strong enough,” Claflin explains. “I remember one time in gym class, I was so embarrassed that I couldn’t do pull-ups when everyone else in my grade was doing pull-ups.”

Claflin said his career as an actor further influenced his body insecurities.
“Being in the industry that I’m in, especially now that the whole world has an opportunity to express their opinion, I think, yes, it does affect you,” he said.
“I played a lot of roles early in my career… In my first movie, I had a shirtless scene, but no one told me, it wasn’t in the script,” he shared. “I was told about a week before they were going to take my top off, and I was like, ‘Fuck, I haven’t worked out yet. What am I going to do? This is like my first exposure to the world.'”
He added, “I think I was very affected, and I would say that, to some extent, most of the people I came into contact with anyway. But it got really bad for me.”
The British actor said, among other things, “I really overthink everything, so I’ll skip meals… I skip breakfast, I drink juice in the morning, and if I haven’t eaten well the night before, I work out extra hard.”
“It’s a real struggle, like a daily struggle,” he shared, adding that he also struggles with pleasing others.
“What bothers me is that people might not like me, or might not think I’m a good person or whatever, or (I) might not look good,” he said. “I’m working through it and being aware of it, trying to accept it, but it’s a challenge.”
Despite the personal challenges, Claflin said, “I’m not miserable by any means. I’m happy,” noting that he’s particularly Enjoy being a father.
“I embraced this role with all my heart. I was born to be a nurturer. … I feel like having children gave me purpose in life,” said Claflin, who has son Pip, 10, and daughter Margot, 8, from his previous marriage to the actress. Laura Haddock.
