Grubhub waives gratuities and fees on restaurant orders over $50

Grubhub is making a bold move in its bid to close the gap with competitors DoorDash and Uber Eats.

On Monday, the company revealed its details Super Bowl 2026 commercials and essentials process change: Starting soon, all delivery and service charges will be waived on restaurant orders over $50. This could save customers a lot of money and could increase Grubhub’s attractiveness in a fiercely competitive market.

The new Super Bowl advertiser is actor George Clooney at the dinner party. As the host curiously asks, “Who’s going to eat the money?” Clooney responds, “Grubhub will eat the fine.”

Grubhub says this is an ongoing offering aimed at putting more money back into customers’ pockets amid the economic crisis. The company notes that delivery and payment on orders over $50 are typically around $13 per sale on food delivery programs.

Grubhub’s move to eliminate the fee on all orders over $50 is seen as a unique opportunity for the food delivery space. Neither DoorDash nor Uber Eats offer a fixed delivery fee and a fee for large orders. Their promotions are limited-time or linked to payment services (such as DashPass or Uber One), which often apply to restaurant selections or other restrictions.

In addition, the new offering comes as Grubhub faces challenges in user growth and the way it tracks its competitors.
