“I hope it’s clear from our storytelling that we’re not trying to show that just because she can’t orgasm, that means something is wrong with her relationship with John,” she continued. “They just have a different kind of slow-growing passion. Her situation is very common, and I think it would be great to represent all different types of love and different types of intimacy on screen.”

She continued: “This is probably a universal issue and also a very specific issue to Francesca’s character. I wouldn’t say it’s necessarily about John and Mikayla, but I think Fran is someone who’s not connected to herself, literally or metaphorically, and that’s probably part of the reason why she’s not able to climax.”
