A Utah woman fatally stabbed her boyfriend on Christmas Day after authorities said she caught him trying to sexually assault her 11-year-old daughter at a party, police and media reported.
Temple of Fabiola Monserrate39 years old, from Kearns, is Charged with second degree manslaughter Wednesday, January 28, in connection with the death Jose Alejandro Franco Alvarez45-year-old West Valley City, KSL reported.
The development came after she was initially arrested on a felony murder charge on Dec. 25, according to a statement shared with X that day by the West Valley City Police Department. At that time, the police confirmed that her boyfriend was Jose Humberto Alvarado.
Information on Templos’ legal representation was not immediately available Friday, Jan. 30.

Authorities then followed a “blood trail” to a nearby home and learned he and Tempelos had attended a Christmas Eve party, according to police.
Police said officers had been to his home hours before his body was found.
Police initially said they arrived at the residence “around 1:30 a.m. after Alvarado removed (Templos’) leggings from an 11-year-old female relative.”
He was not there when officers arrived and said he “fleeed the area,” according to police.
Before he left the home, police said a “confrontation” occurred between Tempelos and Franco-Alvarez outside the residence. Templos allegedly stabbed him during that time.
According to charging documents reviewed by KSL, Templos’ adult son was the one who witnessed Franco-Alvarez touch the 11-year-old girl’s leg at the party.
Documents said Tempelos later stabbed him in the garage, KSL reported.
“Detectives found a large chef’s knife with a red handle on the wheelbarrow and what appeared to be blood on the blade,” investigators wrote in documents reviewed by the outlet.
During the investigation, investigators reviewed surveillance video in which Tempelos allegedly asked Franco-Alvarez in Spanish “what he was doing alone in the room with her daughter” before the stabbing, KSL reported.

Surveillance video also shows Franco-Alvarez “taking the 11-year-old girl away from a large group of people” and taking her into a home where a Christmas Eve party was being held. according to policeABC4 Utah reports.
Tempelos eventually told police that she “blacked out” during an argument with her boyfriend after learning he tried to sexually assault her child, the outlet reported.
Tempelos is out of jail on pretrial release, and she must abide by certain conditions imposed by the court, ABC 4 Utah reported. A subpoena requires her to appear in court at a later date.
If she is found guilty of manslaughter, she could face one to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000, Intermountain Legal said.
