Chipper Jones recalls Hooters waitress getting pregnant while married


Major League Baseball Hall of Fame member Chipper Jones spoke about his controversial past during a debate on social media.

After Jones, 53, posted a supposedly pro-ICE message via

“She’s great…thank you for asking,” Jones responded. “My son is a college baseball coach. What else…Asswhipe!”

Jones admits to having 18-month affair with Hooters restaurant waitress which led to birth of his son Matthew 1998. Matthew is now the pitching and hitting coach at Meridian Community College in Mississippi.

Chip married his first wife, Karin Fulfordwhen something happens. Fulford filed for divorce four months after the affair became public, and the couple divorced in 2000.

On Monday, another follower thought there was more to the story when he accused Chipper of “cheating” on his wife.

“I wouldn’t actually declare any of this a sin…damn you are so perfect,” Chipper wrote byX on Monday. “Do you think you understand everything that happened in my first marriage in its proper context? Or are you just continuing with what you read in the newspaper or heard on CNN?”

Shortly after news of the affair broke, Chipper admitted his infidelity during a three-hour interview on a radio call-in show.

“I want people to know that as a man, I stood up and faced everyone’s wrath,” Chipper reportedly said. Q. “Before all this happened, I went through a period where I would come to the park and see signs — ‘Chip is awesome,’ ‘Chip is president, blah blah blah’ — and I thought, ‘If these people knew what I did, would they feel the same way?’ I didn’t want to be a hypocrite anymore.”

Chipper also reflected on his relationship in his 2017 memoir “Ballers,” in which he wrote that he first told his wife about the affair.

“I decided not to beat around the bush,” he wrote. “I would have said everything and what happened after that happened. Things could have turned violent and she might never want to see my face again. I can’t blame her. I just know I have to accept what happened.”

Chipper continued, “She was in the kitchen when I walked in the front door. I picked up a box of Kleenex that was on the counter and walked over to the dining room table and sat down.”

After telling the Fulford Hooters waitress that she was pregnant and that she planned to have a baby, Chipper wrote, “We both fell into a long silence and then sobbed uncontrollably.”

“Eventually we got up. I needed to get myself together,” he continued. “I heard something behind me and when I turned around I saw her pick up a vase. She threw it at me and the vase hit me in the head. It didn’t break until it hit the floor and I didn’t get cut or anything, but what the hell was I going to say? I deserved it. The only thing I could do was get out of the room and give her time to calm down.”

Chip married his second wife, Sharon Loganoffthe couple had three sons from 2000 to 2012.

He is married to his third wife, a former Playboy model Taylor Higginsthe couple has had two sons together since 2015.
