Canadian-American rock star Neil Young is offering Greenlanders free access to his archives for a year, which he hopes will “alleviate some of the unwarranted pressure and threats they have received from the Trump administration”.
Donald Trump has threatened to annex Danish territory for national security reasons, but he recently walked back his comments, saying he was seeking “immediate negotiations” and insisting “there will be no use of force.”
Yang is known for his political protests and has long been an outspoken critic of Trump.
He announced the “peace and love” initiative on his website, adding that he hoped “other organizations will follow suit in the spirit of our example.”
In a statement signed “Love the Earth,” Yang called the Trump administration “our unwelcome interim administration.”

In 2020, Young took legal action to try to prevent the president from using his music at campaign rallies.
Earlier this month, Yang wrote on his website: “Wake up, people! America today is a disaster. Donald Trump and his followers are destroying America bit by bit… He is dividing us.”
Yang also called on people to boycott Amazon because Amazon boss Jeff Bezos donated to the Trump campaign and supported the administration.
