A 16-year-old girl was killed in a sledding accident in Texas and another teen is in “critical condition,” police said.

“Witnesses reported that the sled hit the curb and hit a tree,” police said.
Two teenagers were taken to a local hospital after the accident, where one died and the other was in “critical condition,” police said.

“She just got a car and a driver’s license and she has her whole life ahead of her,” Meghan added. “Everything was suddenly taken away from me in a sledding accident yesterday.”
The Frisco Police Department said officers are investigating the sledding incident. The Denton County District Attorney’s Office is also involved in the investigation.

In a statement shared to Facebook on Jan. 26, Wakeland High School said additional counselors will be available on Wednesday, Jan. 28, to assist students who need “a space to process yesterday’s incident.”
“Life is short and precious,” Elizabeth’s mother wrote in her Facebook post.
“I’m relieved that there were people helping her until the end,” Meghan added. “We will never be the same and will never forget how much love she brought to our family.”
